A fresh, vibrant white wine from Portugal with sophisticated citrus notes and tropical aromas. Great with wite fish and white meats, especially turkey

Altano Duoro 2020

  • The Symington family, with Scottish, English and Portuguese ancestry has been present in the Douro for five generations — since 1882 — and through the current generation’s great grandmother, the family’s links to the wines of the Douro span 14 generations, to the mid-17th century and to the very beginnings of the history of Port.

Grown at high altitudes, where it’s cooler, in the Baixo Corgo area of the rugged Duoro Valley of northern Portugal, this white wine is produced from Malvasia Fina, Viosinho, Rabigato and Moscatel Galego grapes more traditionally associated with port production. Aged in metal casks for five months.

Very crisp and satisfying in the mouth with hints of green apples and lightly herbal nuances, finishing with an attractive citrus acidity - vibrant and appealing. Ideal to accompany shellfish and other fresh seafood, as well as summer salads, or quite simply as a refreshing aperitif, served well chilled.
